Hi, I’m Aubrey.
Front Yard Confessions started with a decision to share the story of what my family and I had been through anonymously on Threads. I didn’t think anyone would care, I just wanted to get it all out. Surprisingly, many people cared, and followed along. It was entertainment for them, sure, but they also provided a lot of encouragement, support, and vulnerably shared their own stories. It was healing. This site was born from that experience and community, and my deep desire to learn and grow from my experiences.
To be clear, I have a passion for writing, but I’m not a professional. I’m a mom, a wife, and someone who’s living a full life outside of what I’ve shared, doing my best to raise kind humans while processing hurt, and learning how to move forward. I use pseudonyms for everyone involved, myself included, to protect my family and preserve some peace as I tell a story that isn’t just mine. Some names have been changed, some details adjusted slightly for clarity or privacy, but the heart of it is all true. You can read my disclaimer here.
The inspiration for the title Front Yard Confessions came from something real.
In my actual life, stepping into the front yard often feels vulnerable. It’s where some of mine and my family’s trauma has occurred. It’s where we’ve been watched, whispered about, and misunderstood. But it’s also where I’ve found my strength. Where I’ve chosen to show up anyway. Where healing began.
This site is an extension of that space. It is a place to gather and reflect, and share our stories. You’ll find the original Threads posts here, preserved and organized into a more permanent collection.
I plan to reflect further, expand on experiences in my life that have affected me, and process my healing with you. I also invite you to share your own experiences if you’re ready. This is a space for connection, healing, and for making sense of things that might feel impossible to explain.
Whether you’re here to read, relate, or share your own story, you’re welcome in my front yard, and I hope you’ll stay awhile.
With Love,
Aubrey
